由日本流變學(xué)會(huì)（The Society of Rheology Japan）、日本生物流變學(xué)會(huì)（Japanese Society of Biorheology）、日本聚合物加工學(xué)會(huì)（Japan Society of Polymer Processing）以及北海道大學(xué)（Hokkaido University）主辦的第五屆泛太平洋地區(qū)流變學(xué)會(huì)議（The 5th Pacific Rim Conference on Rheology, 簡(jiǎn)稱PRCR-5）于2010年8月1日~6日在日本札幌北海道大學(xué)舉行。
本次會(huì)議注冊(cè)參會(huì)人員450人，我國(guó)與會(huì)代表43人，參會(huì)人數(shù)除東道主日本外僅次于美國(guó)。會(huì)議共設(shè)13個(gè)專題（Mini-Symposia），分別是：（1）Materials Processing；（2）Non-Newtonian Fluid Mechanics & Micro Fluidics；（3）Supramolecular Systems；（4）Solids and Glasses；（5）Polymeric Liquids；（6）Suspensions，Emulsions，F(xiàn)oams；（7）Single chain dynamics: model and experiments；（8）Electro/Magneto Rheological Fluids；（9）Surface and Thin Films；（10）Bio-related Materials and Bio/Medical-rheology；（11）Food Rheology；（12）Elastomers and Gels；（13）Rheology in general。
中科院化學(xué)所韓志超研究員（Charles Han）作了題為“Nucleation Phase Separation under Oscillatory Shear”的大會(huì)邀請(qǐng)報(bào)告，流變學(xué)專業(yè)委員會(huì)主任委員趙曉鵬教授、副主任委員羅迎社教授分別作了題為“Biomimetic Design and Preparation of Electrorheological Materials”、“Rheological Experiments and Application Research on Two Kinds of Light Metal Alloy Materials”的主題報(bào)告（keynote）。按第一作者統(tǒng)計(jì)，我國(guó)代表宣讀論文31篇（含香港3篇，臺(tái)灣2篇），另有張貼論文8篇（含臺(tái)灣2篇）。通過(guò)論文宣讀及與各國(guó)同行的交流，展示了我國(guó)流變學(xué)領(lǐng)域近年的研究成果，了解了國(guó)外同行的研究新動(dòng)態(tài)。會(huì)議取得了豐碩的成果。
第六屆泛太平洋地區(qū)流變學(xué)會(huì)議（PRCR-6）將于2014年在澳大利亞墨爾本舉行。
